Obituary of Lester T. Stutzman

Lester T. Stutzman, 84, of 4721 Ashville Rd. Ashville, NY passed away at 2:12 a.m. Saturday (February 4, 2012) in W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident for most of his life he was born May 6, 1927 in Williamsport, PA a son of the late Lester H. and Georgina Hall Stutzman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard serving from November 27, 1944 to February 9, 1945 during World War II and was a member of the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion. Before his retirement he was employed as an engraver by the former Falconer Plate Glass Company where he worked for 35 years. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved working in the yard around his home. He loved caring for animals, especially his cat and dogs. Surviving are his wife of 63 years the former Sylvia A. Hartman whom he married July 30, 1948, three sons John D. (LouAnn) Stutzman of Ashville/Jamestown, NY, Lester C. (Mike) Stutzman of Montreal Canada, Lance C. (Shannon) Stutzman of Columbus, IN, four granddaughters Cristy Stutzman, Julie Stutzman bothof Jamestown, Rachel Stutzman of Kansas City, MO, Chelsea Stutzman of Columbus, IN and five great grandchildren Brandin Snyder, Joey Stutzman, Logan Wagoner, Keegan O'Rourke, Larissa Cirrincione. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorthea Hartman. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray, retired chaplain of W.C.A. Hospital will officiate. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701.
