Obituary of Elizabeth Neubauer

Elizabeth "Betty" Purpura-Neubauer, 86, of Ocala, Fl formerly of Jamestown, NY passed away at 12:00 p.m. Friday (February 3, 2012) in Ocala, FL. A Jamestown area resident for most of her life, she was born August 11, 1925 in Buffalo, NY a daughter of the late Philip and Rose Calabrese Cordosi. She was raised in Jamestown and lived here until moving to Florida in 1994 with her late husband Norman "Pete" Neubauer. Most of her life was focused on being with and helping her beloved children. As a young woman she had worked at the former G.C. Murphy Company colorizing photos and subsequently worked for National Worsted Mills until she became a fulltime homemaker and mother raising her children. Several years later she worked as a supply clerk at W.C.A. Hospital. Betty was a gifted singer and loved to dance. Throughout the years she enjoyed bowling and camping with her family at Hidden Valley Campground. She enjoyed knitting and did beautiful crochet work. She was always the sparkle that drew many extended family members together. She was appreciated and respected for her reasonable and compassionate ear. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her loving affection and encouragement to rise above the challenges in life. She was a communicant of the Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Ocala, where she was active with the Fountain of Living Waters Prayer Group and a former communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Jamestown. Surviving is a daughter Diana (Bruce) Mace of Ocala, FL, two sons James (Suzanne) Purpura of Jamestown, NY, Jerry (Sheryl) Purpura of Ocala, Fl, a step-son Clayton Neubauer of Elkins, WV, a step-daughter Susan Koresko of Jamestown, NY, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a sister Rosemarie Wilder of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Norman "Pete" Neubauer who died January 24,1998, a brother Anthony Cordosi, a sister Margaret "Dolly" Bernhardt and two grandchildren Christa Hearburg-Purpura, Dana Neubauer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led by Rev.
