Obituary of Janice P. Hazard

Janice Price Hazard, 79, formerly of 25 Chestnut St. Jamestown, passed away at 3:23 a.m. Sunday (March 4, 2012) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident she was born September 11, 1932 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Leslie A. and Laura Turnwall Price. She was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Syracuse University. Before her retirement she was employed by Jamestown Community College for 29 years, serving as Secretary for the Arts and Science Department. She had also worked as a receptionist for WJTN Radio for several years. In earlier years she was active with the Multiply Sclerosis Society where she was Secretary of the board. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed going out to lunch with her daughters and her grandchildren Andy and Laura. She also loved to dress up and look her best when she went out for dinner at many different restaurants over the years. Surviving are her husband Almon "Hap" Hazard whom she married August 16, 1963, two daughters Linda L. Donovan of Ship Bottom, NJ, Leslie Donovan (Jay) Carlson of Jamestown, two grandchildren Lt. Andrew Donovan (Sarah) Carlson of Virginia Beach, VA, Laura Ann Carlson a student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie, PA. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Alison L. Leitzel, pastor of the Tree of Life Lutheran Community will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua Region Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O.
