Obituary of Phyllis M. Patterson

Phyllis M. Patterson, 93, formerly of 32 South St. Panama, NY, Bedford, OH, and Uniontown, PA, died Tuesday March 13, 2012 in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born August 14, 1918 in the town of Franklin, PA the daughter of William Fred and Izetta Hagerty Shafer. Phyllis had been employed at Kmart for many years, retiring in 1981. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church, both in Bedford, OH. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, puzzles, and reading. Surviving are a daughter, Myrna L. Dole of Panama; three grandchildren, Charles W. (Sandy) Dole of Jamestown; Phillip W. (Tammy) Dole of Busti; David S. Dole of Panama; five great grandchildren, Jamie (David) Cercone, Christopher Dole, Allison Dole; Joseph Dole, Nicholas Dole; one great great granddaughter, Briar Cercone; a nephew, Howard Bryson of PA. and a niece, Delaine Rumbaugh of OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin W. Patterson whom she married July 5, 1938 and who died November 26, 1999; a son, Daniel C. Patterson who died October 31, 1943; three brothers, Finley, Allen, and Clarence Shafer; and two sisters, Josephine Rearick, and Frances Bryson. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Dunbar, PA. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Panama United Methodist Church, 12 E Main St. Panama, NY 14767.
