Obituary of Donna J. Lofgren

Donna Johnson Lofgren, entered into her Lord's rest on March 13, 2012. She passed away at her home, surrounded by her family. Formerly of Jamestown, NY, she was a resident of Melbourne, FL since 1975. Donna was born September 13, 1928, in Jamestown, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad H. Johnson and Hildegard Alm Johnson, and her sister, Elaine Hagstrom Hunt. Donna is survived by her husband of 57 years, Victor Lofgren of Melbourne, FL; her daughter Terry Scala (John) and grandchildren, Brian and Lisa, of New Fairfield, CT; and several nieces and nephews. Donna graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946 and afterwards was employed in the Business Office of Jamestown Telephone Company. Later she was employed as Assistant Activities Leader at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Jamestown. Prior to retirement, Donna served as Office Manager at her husband, Vic's, Diamond Springs Water business in Melbourne, FL. Donna's constant endeavor was to try to do good for everyone around her, always touching people with her kind, generous, and gentle spirit. Her family and her Lord were her priorities. She was a sincere friend to all. Donna's interest in life and the world around her never faltered. She was a tireless giver of her time and talents throughout her years, despite her personal challenges, taking on countless activities and projects, both large and small. Her resounding satisfaction was chairing and growing Habitat for Humanity's Strawberry Festival, in Melbourne, in its early years. Her extensive volunteerism over the years included The Red Cross, Jamestown General Hospital, Girl Scouting as a Troop Leader for many years, Habitat for Humanity of Brevard County for 10 years, and the Maxwell King Center. Donna was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church in Melbourne, FL. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 21, 2012 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel K. Nagle, pastor of First Lutheran Church in Jamestown will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Wednesday in the funeral home.
