Obituary of Emma I. Rapp

Emma I. Rapp, 98, formerly of Erie, PA and Sheffield, PA, died Monday May 7, 2012 in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation center. She was born September 19, 1913 in Brocton, NY the daughter of Rudolph and Josephine Barber Genske. Emma graduated from Brocton School and attended Jamestown Business College. For many years, she worked at the Boston Store in Erie, selling Revlon Cosmetics. Her hobbies were baking, reading, and gardening. Emma volunteered for many years at the Sheffield Senior Center. She is survived by her brother, Donald (Jane) Genske of Irving, NY; her sister, Lucille Delcamp of Westfield, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Rapp whom she married April 8, 1939 and who died March 17, 1982; two brothers, Theodore (Katherine) Genske; James Genske; and four sisters, Mildred (Roger) Corell; Wilhelmina Murphy; Marian Genske; and Dorothy (Bill) Bowman. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Christ Chapel at Lutheran Social Services 715 Falconer St Jamestown. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain, will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery Erie, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sheffield Senior Center, Pickering and Main St., Sheffield, PA 16347.
