Obituary of Robert E. Sargent

Robert E. "Bob" Sargent, 77, of 19A Bradmar Circle Jamestown, formerly of South Carolina, died Tuesday May 15, 2012 in his home. He was born July 7, 1934 in Lancaster, SC the son of the late Rev. William E. and Lytha Hembree Sargent. Bob was a veteran of the US Navy, working as an Aviation Electrician. While living in Jamestown, he worked at Proto Tool and Crescent Tool. When Crescent Tool relocated, Bob moved to South Carolina and worked for the Cooper Group, retiring as a manufacturing manager. He was an avid bowler and golfer, and former member of Stillwater Country Club, now South Hills. Bob loved dogs and cats and had owned and raced greyhounds at one time. Surviving are a son, Robert D. Sargent of Celoron; a daughter, Sherry L. Sargent of Jamestown; ten grandchildren, Melissa, Tanya, Charles, Douglas, Lori, William, Samantha, Stephanie, Jenny, and Kevin; 27 great grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews, Mickey, Judy, Joanne, and Gerald. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucretia Sargent; a brother, William H. Sargent; and a sister, Helen Sargent Vinson.
