Obituary of William E. Seastrum

William E. "Bill" Seastrum, Sr. 61, of 4 High Acres, Bemus Point passed away at 6:20 p.m. Monday (June 18, 2012) in his home with his wife and son Steven by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born March 9, 1951 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Russell H. Seastrum, Sr. and the late Betty J. Spencer Seastrum. A lifelong area resident Bill attended Maple Grove Jr.-Sr. High School until he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. serving from January 15, 1970 to April 15, 1975 during the Vietnam War. During his tour of duty he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with one star, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal and was an M-16 rifle expert. Following his discharge from the military he worked at many different jobs throughout Chautauqua County. He was currently employed by Jamestown Scientific in varying capacities since 2005. Bill enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. He was a member of the Jamestown Rifle Club for many years serving as a junior club instructor and more recently as Vice President. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and in earlier years was an avid hunter. He will be sadly missed by the love of his life, his wife, Sandra F. Patchen Seastrum whom he married September 4, 1987 in Jamestown, NY, his son William E. Seastrum, Jr. and his wife Laura of TN, his daughter Paula Jo Seastrum and daughter Victoria of NC, two step-sons Christopher Collins, his wife Jennifer and daughter Moya of West Ellicott and Steven Collins, his wife Mary and children Madison, Emma, Max and a daughter due any time all of Bemus Point, NY, his siblings Russell H. Seastrum, Jr. and his wife Sukritta of Broadalbin, NY, Jo A. Nickerson and her husband Clayt of Jamestown, Irene M. Crosby and her husband William of Randolph, NY and Thomas E. Seastrum and his wife Debbie of Warren, PA plus many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and his aunt Margaret (Murvel) Seastrum Ostrander of Towerville. Bill will especially be missed by his two best friends Bob Trusler of Jamestown and Kenny Kuntz of Falconer. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother Albertina Seastrum, his paternal grandparents Everett E. and Hazel M. Brown Seastrum, his maternal grandmother Hazel M. Spencer Williams and two uncles. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the gazebo, on the grounds of High Acres Trailer Park (across from the office). Family and friends are invited to take part in the celebration. Visitation will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750 or to a charity of one's choice.
