Obituary of Ruth J. Carlson

Ruth J. Carlson, 92, of Hultquist Place, formerly of 303 West Fifth St. passed away at 6:05 a.m. Saturday (July 14, 2012) in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident she was born March 14, 1920 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Godfrey and Judith Wettergren Carlson. Before her retirement in 1975 she was employed by the former Watson Manufacturing Company for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Covenant Church, Thule Lodge #127 VASA Order of America, the Norden Women's Club and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family, traveling and being at the cottage on Chautauqua Lake. She was also an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed playing bridge. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and enjoyed attending many Swedish events over the years. Surviving are a son Bruce R. (Lorrie) Carlson of Jamestown, a daughter Yvonne Cooper of Jupiter, FL, six grandchildren Bruce M. (Cristen) Carlson of Tampa, FL, Jessica M. (Matt) Carlson-Winger of Erie, PA, Jarrett (Adrianna) Cooper of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Stefanie (Christopher) Marich of Austin, TX, Derek (Lona) Cooper of West Palm Beach, FL, Kara M. (Asad) Sawani of Dubai and three great grandchildren Ashlyn, Gavin and Kiersten Marich, Ava Cooper and Madina Sawani. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband C. Reynold Carlson whom she married November 20, 1941 and who died May 14, 2007. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor of the First Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home where a Thule Lodge memorial service will be held at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
