Obituary of John "Jack" Boreck

John "Jack" Boreck, 86, of 17 Van Buren St., died at 11:52 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 in WCA Hospital. He was born November 12, 1925 in Cassandra, PA, one of eight children of the late Vasil and Paraska Krajnak Boreck, and graduated from Lilly High School in Pennsylvania. Jack was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army from 1944 to 1946. After coming to Jamestown in 1954, he was employed by the Proto Tool Co. for 30 years until their closing. He then worked for Quality Markets for 24 years, retiring at the age of 84. He was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church. Jack enjoyed fishing with family and friends, especially his buddy, Eddie Wendt. He belonged to the John W. Tiffany Post 53 VFW and the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Assoc. Surviving are five daughters: Jacqueline (Arthur) Jodon of Cresson, PA, his caregiver, Sheryl Boreck, with whom he made his home, Michelle (John) Pacheco of Panama, Tina (Douglas) Stauski of Lilly, PA and Miriam (Raymond) George of Cassandra, PA; (15) grandchildren: Jerome Murray of DuBois, PA, Brian and Scott Murray of Cresson, Robert McKeever of Jamestown, Holly McKeever of Lakewood, Lexy Jo Hebner, Monica Warren, Nichole Philbrick and Richard Philbrick, all of Jamestown, Doug Stauski of Cresson, Nicholas Stauski of Portage, PA, Sara Patz of Lilly, Raymond George of Pittsburgh, and Venessa and Brandon George, both of Cassandra; and (13) great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Williams Boreck whom he married July 5, 1955 and who died May 9, 2000; and infant grandson, Timothy Stauski and grandson, John Morrell; three brothers, Michael, Joseph and Andrew Boreck; and four sisters, Julia Lansberry, Theresa Boreck, Mary Paladino and Ann Moore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter & Paul Church, 508 Cherry St., Jamestown, NY 14701; or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
