Obituary of Robert E. Patterson

Robert E. Patterson, 55, of 110 West Third St. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Friday (August 3, 2012) in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident he was born December 23, 1956 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Nelson Robert and Delores Jean Shaw Patterson. He was a 1976 graduate of Olean High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from June 28, 1976 to June 27, 1979. During his tour of duty he was a Multi-Channel Communications Equipment Operator and earned the Good Conduct Medal. Prior to his disability, he was employed by Jamestown Advanced Products for several years. In earlier years he worked for the Alcove Restaurant in Olean, NY. He will be remembered as a huge rock and roll fan of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and was a NASCAR fan of Jeff Gordon. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping and spending time outdoors. He loved to restore classic cars and for the past several years enjoyed communicating with his family and friends via the computer. Through the care by New Visions and New Frontiers, he made many friends who have been his constant support. Surviving are a son Kasey M. Patterson, a granddaughter Annalora M. Patterson both of Olean, NY, four sisters Deborah M. Tucker of Olean, Darlene B. (Kevin) Maier of Fairview, PA, Theresa A. (Edward) Nolder of Emporium, PA, Tina M. (Randy) Felton of Busti, NY, a brother Brian N. Patterson of St. Petersburg, FL, his former wife Tracey Wiskemann Patterson as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father Quentin Coats. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Sunday and from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 380 East Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750.
