Obituary of Margaret H. Nichols

Margaret H. Nichols, 94, of 4369 W. Summit Avenue, Lakewood, died Monday, October 8, 2012, in WCA Hospital. A native of North Clymer, she was born July 23, 1918, a daughter of Earl and Gladys Gulick Read. She graduated from Clymer High School where she played on the girls basketball team and later graduated from Jamestown Business College. She had been employed by Chautauqua Institution for fifteen years handling ticket sales at the main gate for performances of plays and operas. She was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church in Jamestown, and previously a long-time member of the North Clymer United Methodist Church. An avid sports fan she followed baseball and bowled twice per week until very recently. She also participated in a Pinnacle group which played cards in Lakewood. Surviving are 2 children Patsy Lane of Lakewood and Jack E. (David Bull) Hemink of Lakewood; 3 grandchildren Natalie (Mark) Hoel of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Danica (Ian) DeMerchant of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada and Maren Lane of Boston, MA and four great grandchildren Luke and Signe Hoel and Josie and Jake DeMerchant. She was preceded in death by her first husband Louis Hemink who died in 1991, her second husband Richard Nichols in 2012; a son William E. Hemink; a brother Donald Read and a sister Beatrice Read. The funeral will be held Thursday at 3 p.m., at Christ First United Methodist Church. Rev. Natalie Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Clymer Center Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
