Obituary of Richard F. Adams

Richard F. Adams, 79, of 20 Jeffords St. Jamestown, died at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday (January 2, 2013) in WCA Hospital. He was born October 27, 1933 in Mount Holly, NJ the son of the late Thomas and Everald Adams. Richard was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1955 until 1961. Prior to retirement, he worked as a Chef at various restaurants for 60 years, including Head Chef at the Ironstone, Town Club, Moose Lodge, and Millers Grove. He was a member of the American Legion and was an avid fisherman. Surviving are two sons, Steven (Kristy) Adams, and Brian Adams, both of Jamestown; a daughter, Holly Adams of Fort Lauderdale, FL; three grandchildren, Mark (Melissa) Adams of Columbia, SC; Matthew (Vanessa) Adams of Belleville, IL; Daniel Adams of Jamestown; and four great grandchildren, Trent, Anakin, Loralye, and Victoria Adams. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois DeKay Adams whom he married January 17, 1958 and who died July 24, 2001. The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Cameron Lienhart will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday (two hours prior) in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.).
