Obituary of Lucille N. Carlson

Lucille N. Carlson, 94, formerly of Cheney's Point, Ashville, N.Y. died Sunday ( Jan. 13, 2013 ) at Kirkhaven Skilled Facility, Rochester, NY. She was born Oct. 30, 1918 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of Arthur and Bertha Nelson. She was the widow of Clifford K. Carlson whom she married in 1938. A lifelong resident of Cheney's Point, Lucille was actively involved in Scouting activities at Chautauqua Central School, the American Legion, Office of the Aging, Lakewood Rod + Gun, Eastern Star, and volunteering at the WCA Hospital Gift shop. She had worked at Helman's Grocery, Chaut. Provisions, Fanny Farmer Candy, and Peterson's Corn Crib Candies. She was a member of the Mayville Methodist Church until 2003, when she moved to Rochester, to be close to her daughter, and join the Brighton Reformed Church. She enjoyed her friends and neighbors, and loved helping people. Some of her hobbies included Brazilian embroidery, bowling, and playing cards. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Bertha Nelson, her husband Clifford K. Carlson, a brother Raymond Nelson, a sister Alfreda Anderson, and a granddaughter Julie Rosenborg. She is survived by a daughter Jeanine (Don) Oosterveen of Rochester, a son Clifford K. Carlson Jr. (Sue) of Jamestown, three grandchildren: Cindy ( Kevin) Rodgers of Jamestown, Lisa Carlson of Jamestown, and Jennifer (Mitch) Schmidt of Radnor, Pa., and four great grandchildren : Aidan and Collin Rodgers, and Miranda and Gavin Schmidt of Radnor, Pa.. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday January 19, 2013 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ashville, NY. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers we suggest you make a donation in Lucille's name to your local church or favorite charity.
