Obituary of George W. Videll

George W. Videll, 71, of 4582 Cowing Road, Lakewood, died Wednesday January 23, 2013 in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. A lifelong area resident, he was born June 3, 1941 in Jamestown, the son of the late George and Ellen Anderson Videll, Sr. He was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School and later graduated from Jamestown Community College and SUNY Fredonia. George spent his career in service to the community as a science teacher in the Jamestown Public School System. As member of the Chautauqua County community he led an active life in his appreciation of the outdoors. A devoted father and husband, George spent many a season engaged with his family fishing, hunting, sailing, and camping. He was the president of the Chautauqua County Federation of Sportsman's Clubs, a committee member of Ducks Unlimited, was once active in The Chautauqua County Bird Dog Association, Trout Unlimited, the Ruffed Grouse Society, and served as a board member of the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club. As a lifetime member of the Jamestown Skeet and Trap Club, he also served as its president. George was also a member of Mount Moriah Lodge #145 F&AM, where he achieved his 32nd degree in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and lived his life in accordance with those principles. He is survived by his devoted wife Kay Schroeder Videll, loving son Hans Christopher Videll of Edinboro; Godchild Julia Jablonski of Lakewood, NY; Sister Sharon Donnelly and nephew Kyle Donnelly of Prescott, AZ; and several family members in New York, Pennsylvania, Sweden, Denmark, and Australia.
