Obituary of Bertha V. Walsh

Bertha V. Walsh, 91, formerly of 522 Eccles Road Kennedy, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (February 6, 2013) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 25, 1922 in Falconer, NY the daughter of William D. and Lula E. Allen. Bertha attended Jamestown Schools and had worked at Jamestown Community College as a custodian. In earlier years, she worked at Klings Furniture. She was a member of the Frewsburg American Legion Auxiliary, and the War Vets. She was an avid bowler, and she loved animals. She also sang and played guitar with a Country and Western Band. Her favorite times were those spent at family picnics and gatherings. Surviving are two sons, Patrick (Frances) Walsh of Jamestown; Thomas (Marcia) Walsh of Kennedy; a daughter, Mary (Gary) Marowski of West Ellicott; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip Allen of Niagara Falls, NY; Alonzo Allen of Pocatello, ID; and two sisters, Audrey Crawford of Jamestown; and Naomi Rhinehart of Holly, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Walsh whom she married February 9, 1940 and who died April 2, 2002; a daughter, Loretta Seekins; a son in law, Frank Seekins; and four brothers, Ethan, William, Earl, and Elmer Allen. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
