Obituary of Ruth E. Bratt

Ruth E. Bratt, 89, formerly of Baker St. Ext. Ashville, NY and Stanton Hill Rd. Russell, PA passed away at 6:30 a.m. Sunday (February 10, 2013) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of her life she was born May 17, 1923 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Chester and Mamie Swanson Fulcher. Before her retirement she was employed as a division manager for Sears Roebuck Company where she worked for over 30 years. In previous years she attended the Ashville United Methodist Church and was active with the Ashville Fire Department Auxiliary. She was also a former member of the Rebecca Lodge, the Harmony Senior Citizens and the Harmony Historical Society. Ruth also served as a Chautauqua County Election Inspector, working the polls in Watts Flats for many years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved cooking and baking for her family and friends and was always the caregiver for her family members. She also enjoyed the times playing "bunco" with the girls and will be remembered for her lovely flowers around her home. Surviving are two daughters Patricia M. (the late John) Ellison of Blairsville, PA, Ruth Ann (John) Lyon of Russell, PA, seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and a brother Bob Fulcher of Jamestown, NY. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gustaf Bratt whom she married August 22, 1941 and who died July 1, 1990, a brother Norman Fulcher and a granddaughter in law Deborah Ellison. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16th, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Violet Davidson, pastor of the Ashville and Lakewood United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Friday, February 15th, and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
