Obituary of Daniel M. Ruttenbur

Daniel M. Ruttenbur, Sr., 73, of 1 Beckwith Drive, Russell, Pa., died Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Hospice Home in Warren. He was born March 21, 1939 in Jamestown, the son of the late Stanley M. and Martha E. Ahrens Ruttenbur. Dan graduated from Jamestown High School in 1957 and later attended the University of Buffalo. He also served in the US Army Reserves. A well-known area automobile salesman, Dan began his career as a lot boy at the former Whitworth Ford. He continued serving in various capacities including general manager for over 50 years. He was employed by McFadden Ford, Sherman Ford, Sherman Ford of Westfield and most recently, Warren Midtown Motors. He was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the War Vets. Anyone who knew Dan knew of his passion for NASCAR racing and restoring antique cars. One of his greatest and most proud accomplishments was having won the 2012 Coker Tire Challenge, Rookie Division, in his restored 1930 Model A Phaeton. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Johnson Ruttenbur, whom he married October 30, 1997; sons, Daniel M. (Maryann) Ruttenbur, Jr. of Winter Haven, FL, Kevin C. (Rosemary) Ruttenbur of Russell, and Todd A. Hoak of Warren; and three grandchildren, Madeline E. and Danielle M. Ruttenbur of Winter Haven, and Jake M. Ruttenbur of Russell. Dan's kindness and compassion for his friends and customers will always be remembered. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Sears of the First Baptist Church of Sherman, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home, c/o Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365.
