Obituary of Lowell L. Larson

Lowell L. Larson, 86, of 743 Falconer St. formerly of 279 Sampson St., Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly at 8:57 a.m. Monday (March 11, 2013) at his home. A lifelong area resident he was born August 1, 1926 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late August and Margaret Warner Larson. Mr. Larson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Before his retirement he was employed by Jamestown Metal Products and had previously been employed by Jamestown Unit Parts for 30 years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of the Vikings, the Thule Lodge #127 VASA Order of America, Herman Kent Post #777 American Legion, the Ira Lou Spring Post #149 American Legion, the John W. Tiffany Post #53, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband to his wife, a caring father and grandfather, and one who enjoyed reading, golfing and woodworking. Surviving are his wife the former Nancy Lundquist whom he married October 25, 1947, two sons Dan (Janice) Larson of East Amherst, NY, Larry Larson of Jamestown, six grandchildren Seth Larson of Webster, NY, Julie Hoff of Newburgh, IN, Thomas, Carl, Laura Larson all of East Amherst, NY, Lucas Larson of Jamestown and three great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Steven M. Larson and daughter in law Sue Larson, a daughter Debra (Terry) Hoff, a grandson Brian Hoff and a sister Eloise Vergith. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Chaplain of Lutheran Social Services will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
