Obituary of Arleta M. Lawson

Arleta M. Lawson, 84, formerly of Tanglewood Manor, Covenant Manor, and Ashville, NY went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday March 16, 2013 in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born February 9, 1929 in Sinclairville, NY the daughter of the late Carl R. and Florence M. Dalrymple Johnson. Arleta graduated from Jamestown Business College, and prior to retirement worked at the former Fluvanna Quality Markets for 28 years as a cashier and in the meat department. She also worked at the former Skyline Cab Co. and Manor Oak Skilled Nursing Facility. Arleta was a member of New Covenant Assembly Church; the Ashville Grange for many years; and she bowled in the Flamingo Bowling Leagues. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed tending to her rose bushes. Surviving are three sons, David M. (Vicky) Lawson, Donald R. (Lori) Lawson, both of Jamestown; Tracy D. (Deanna) Lawson of Warren, PA; a daughter, Linda L. Jim of Jamestown; ten grandchildren, Jon, Tyler, Brigette, Jennifer, Timothy, Tomas, Joey, Melissa, Aaron, and Nathan; 12 great grandchildren; and her first great great grandchild on the way. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milo C. Lawson; a son, Thad William Lawson; a grandson, Jason; a sister, Meredith F. Godfrey; her companion of 31 years, Lester Nohlquist; a step son, Larry Staples; and a step brother, Gordon Faulkner. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. K. Trevor Coburn, pastor of New Covenant Assembly, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service Thursday in the funeral home.
