Obituary of Jack H. Smith

Surrounded by his loving family, Jack H. Smith, 72, of 39 Park St., Jamestown, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at WCA Hospital. Known to his family and friends as "Uncle Jack", he was born June 18, 1940 in Jamestown the son of the late Eldred and Gladys Anderson Smith. A 1958 Graduate of Jamestown High School (JHS, just like his initials), he worked at the former Jamestown Ambulance Service, Millbrook Bread and Morgan Linen Services. Prior to retirement, Jack and his wife, Linda, owned and operated City Parcel Delivery. He was a member and Treasurer of the Celoron/Lakewood Moose Lodge 2587. Jack was also a member of South Hills Country Club, Chautauqua County Club Associates, and a past member of the Vikings for many years. He enjoyed bowling, playing pinochle and his most recent love was golf. Surviving are his wife, Linda Lawler Smith whom he married November 23, 1985, or as he would say, "some Saturday in November"; his children, Debbie Sue Smith of Jamestown, twins, Denise E French of Baldwinsville, NY and Douglas W. (Vicki) Smith of Williamsville, NY. Also surviving are his twin brother, James E. (Shirley) Smith of Jamestown; step daughters, Debbie (Kevin) Breneman of Celoron and Shelly (Dave) Kell of Jamestown; three grandchildren; three step granchildren; two great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; one neice, two nephews and two step neices, all of whom loved him very much. A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm Thursday in the Lind funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Phelps, Hospice Chaplain will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3pm Thursday, two hours prior to the service, in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
