Obituary of Gust P. Verleni

Gust P. Verleni, 91, of 105 Front Street, died Monday March 25, 2013, in WCA Hospital. Coming to the United States in 1930, he was born July 12, 1921, in Verlin, Albania, a son of the late Perickles and Venetria Stogionedis Verleni. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed by the former Watson Manufacturing as a spray finisher. He earlier had worked for Tillotson's for 19 years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Falconer Moose Lodge and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are 4 children Vanessa (Mark) Elia of Canandaigua, NY, Connie (Timothy) Burns of Jamestown, Patricia Felton of Clarence, NY and Gust (Amanda) Verleni, Jr. of Jamestown; 4 grandchildren Ellen and Michael Burns of Jamestown and John and Victoria Elia of Canandaigua; a sister Agnes Spiro of Cleveland, OH and two brothers Dr. Thomas Verleni of Naples, FL and Nick Verleni of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife the former Stergioula Roufos, whom he married April 27, 1958 and who died September 1, 2008 and a brother Vangel Verleni in 1985. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Rev. George Zervos will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
