Obituary of Michael D. Aaron

Michael D. Aaron, 74, of 111 Erie Street, Lakewood, went to be with the Lord Monday April 1, 2013. He was born March 12, 1939, in Crates, PA, during the March blizzard of that year, son of the late Arthur and Helena Markley Aaron. Mike graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, the field he was to spend the balance of his life pursuing. Prior to coming to Chautauqua County in 1971, he had spent time working for the Boeing Corporation and RCA on aerospace and defense projects including preparing the Saturn rockets for the mission to the moon and the Aegis Defense System for ships. He came to this area to work for Falconer Plate Glass in setting up its glass tempering facility. He left there in 1977 to pursue new challenges with the Acu-Rite Companies. While there he was responsible for the production of precision glass scales after setting up the clean room and process to support this activity. He retired in 2005 after 28 years with Acu-Rite. In his younger years he was an avid sports nut, participating in wrestling, football, softball, golf and track, at times coaching kids' teams. However, as he aged, life had other priorities and his favorite activity was called SAKS (Special Acts of Kindness). This consisted of activities that would help others without them ever knowing. He also enjoyed fixing all the gadgets that broke, especially those of his step-son Todd. He could usually fix just about anything that required fixing. He was an active member of Jamestown Community Chapel. Surviving are his wife the former Barbara Rashley, whom he married March 12, 1993; three daughters Ann Trumble of Mequon, WI, Sabra Aaron of Albuquerque, NM and Kathryn Aaron of Louisville, KY; 2 step sons Todd Mattson and Scott Mattson, both of Jamestown; several granddaughters; a brother Lawrence (Jan) Aaron of Stow, OH and a sister Marlene (Harry) Zwibel of Los Cruces, NM. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Anna Mae Aaron and a brother Richard Aaron. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to Jamestown Community Chapel, 35 Camp Street, Jamestown, NY 14701 or your local library. You may light a candle in remembrance of Mike at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
