Obituary of Esther L. Murray

Esther L. Murray, 92, of 3880 E. Ross Mills Road, Falconer, formerly of Bemus Point, went to be with her Lord Tuesday April 23, 2013, in Joanne's House of Hope Hospice, Bonita Springs, FL. She was born September 1, 1920, in Scranton, PA, a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Elizabeth Edwards Lobley. She was preceded in death by her husband E. James Murray and son-in-law, Ronald Badger, three brothers Herbert, Edwin, and William Lobley and a sister Eleanor Pierson. While living in the Bemus Point area, she was a member of the former Calvary Assembly of God and served as a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and participated in golf leagues at Willow Run and Bemus Point Golf Courses She was a skilled seamstress, gardener, and hostess for visiting missionaries and preachers. Through her hospitality she developed friendships across the country. The memory of her pies and other baked goods ensured that invitations to dine were readily accepted. She shared these talents at many church and community events. She will be missed by family and friends alike. Surviving are three daughters Judith (James) Walker with whom she made her home, Janice (Tom) Strain of Greene, NY and Joy Badger of Mount Laurel, NJ; 3 grandchildren Gregory Walker of Anchorage, AK, Patrick Strain of Gilbertsville, NY and Meghann Strain-Howard of Philadelphia, PA; 2 great grandchildren Todd Walker of Denver, CO and Shelbi Walker of Anchorage, AK and a sister Ann Watson of Bigelow, Arkansas.
