Obituary of Sophie J. Erickson

Sophie Coyle Erickson, MD. 92, of Lakewood, NY passed away at 11:39 p.m. Saturday (May 4, 2013) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 2, 1920 in Clairton, PA a daughter of the late Jozef and Johanna Smrkolj. Sophie was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Medical School, Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband C. Leonard Erickson, and her children; Alice Coyle, Sally Coyle and Michael Coyle. Sophie is survived by her daughter in law, Jan Coyle of CO, her grandsons, Alexander and Andrew Coyle. She is also survived by her step-children Bruce (Joan) Erickson of Lakewood, NY, Martha Erickson Israel of Sydney, PA, Brian (Carol) Erickson of Ellicottville, NY, 6 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. Visitation will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of one's choice.
