Obituary of Phyllis Onnolee Hankin

Phyllis Onnolee Hankin, 84, of Jamestown, passed away Monday May 27, 2013 in WCA Hospital. She was born July 11, 1928, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late William and Jennie Barkman Rasmussen. She met her late husband, Robert Hankins at the Celoron Park Skating Rink and later married him in Sugar Grove, PA. They moved from Jamestown to Conneaut, OH and then to Lima, OH where she was employed by Lima Electric Company until her retirement. They then returned to Jamestown and enjoyed their favorite pastime of roller skating. After Bob's passing she continued to live in her friendly neighborhood, which consists of her many kind, helpful friends and neighbors. Over the years she adopted many stray animals in the area and also from the Humane Society. Honoring Onnolee's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Surviving are her brother Richard Rasmussen, Sr. of Jamestown, several cousins and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Onnolee was preceded in death by her brothers John W. Rasmussen and Vincent Rasmussen and a sister Dorothy Rasmussen Knechtel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of choice or the many needy cats and dogs at the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
