Obituary of Helen L. Nash

Helen Linnea Norberg Carlson Nash, 96, formerly of 103 Linwood Avenue died Wednesday June 5, 2013 in the home of her son Darrel C. Carlson in North East, PA. She was born November 11, 1916, in Jamestown, a daughter of Edmund and Ruby Anderson Norberg. She was the widow of Carl Edwin Carlson, who died in WWII and Richard E. Nash, who died October 9, 1999. She was a 1935 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a teacher's aide to handicapped students at Fletcher Elementary School. She earlier had worked at Art Metal, Inc. She was a long time member of First Covenant Church where she participated in women's circles and sang in the choir and Living Christmas Tree. Her other memberships include Allen Park Women's Club, Audubon Society, Robert H. Jackson Center and Roger Tory Peterson Institute. While raising her family she was a Cub Scout den mother. She thoroughly enjoyed golfing. She had a perfect driving record for all 72 years from 1932 thru 2004 when she voluntarily stopped driving. Surviving are a son Darrel C. Carlson, with whom she made her home; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 2 brothers Sven "Bud" (Carole) Norberg of Jamestown and Norman (Amy) Norberg of Lehigh Acres, FL. Besides her first and second husbands she was preceded in death by a son David Carlson; grandson Dean C. Carlson; brother Arnold E. Norberg; sister Pauline Bentley and brother-in-law John Bentley.
