Obituary of Albert B. Cecchini

Albert Babb Piccard "Al" Cecchini, 57, of 13 Towner Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away unexpectedly at 11:50 p.m. Thursday (June 20, 2013) in W.C.A. Hospital. A Jamestown resident since 1985, he was born September 30, 1955 in Plainfield, NJ a son of Babette Kaiser Cecchini and the late Albert L. Cecchini. He was a 1973 graduate of Warren Area High School where he earned several college credits while in high school. From 1973-1975, he earned two four-year bachelor's degrees with honors from the University of Pittsburgh and also attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Al also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with three master's degrees and earned his Ph.D. in Bioengineering. Al was currently the President and owner of Libera, Inc, a case management and information management software company he founded in 1987 in Jamestown, NY. He has had several articles published in the Journal of Theoretical Biology for which there have been requests for republication from all over the world. He also was instrumental in securing 17 patents, one of which was sold to the Microsoft Corporation, and currently has 20 patents pending. He will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted Dad. He was a very generous and kind hearted man who had both technique and talent in his business and personal life. He will also be remembered as a smart, wise and very caring boss by his Libera family. Al was a gifted singer, possessing a magnificent tenor voice. While in college he sang in the University of Pittsburgh Men's Glee Club. In past years he was a member of the Chautauqua Chamber Singers, sang in the choir for the Trinity Episcopal Church in Warren, PA and also sang in the Living Christmas Tree at First Covenant Church. In earlier years he was a coach for his sons in the YMCA Basketball Program. Surviving are his mother of Warren, PA, a daughter Lauren Babette Cecchini of Boston, MA, two sons Benjamin Albert Cecchini of Atlanta, GA, Adam David Piccard Cecchini of Jamestown, NY, a step-daughter Meghan Lisa Morris of Chicago, IL, two sincere friends Dr. Lyndon Gritters, Dr. Patric McPoland, his best friend and other half Stephanie Hobson and members of the Libera family and associates. He was preceded in death by his father Albert L. Cecchini, by his grandparents as well as several loving Aunts and Uncles. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the YMCA Basketball Program or to the Jamestown High School Basketball Boosters Club. Al will lovingly be remembered by all who knew him.
