Obituary of Hazel Anderson

Hazel M. Anderson, 95, of 220 Southwestern Dr. Lakewood, NY, formerly of 76 Spruce St. Jamestown passed away at 8:15 a.m. Saturday (June 29, 2013) in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident she was born April 13, 1918 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Oscar and Anna Hultquist Jones. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years she was employed with her father at the former Jones Motors. Before her retirement years she had worked with her husband at the former A&B Design Printing, which became Falconer Printing and Design, where she was involved in many aspects of the business for many years. She was a member of the Christ First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in many circles and church activities. Her family was also longtime members of the former Epworth Christ United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Norden Women's Club and the Cousin's Club. Hazel will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was very proud of her Swedish heritage and was very fluent in the Swedish language. She was also known as a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews. Surviving is a daughter, Mary A. (Tom) Glatz of West Ellicott; a son, Charles A. (Kathleen) Anderson of Lakewood; three grandchildren, Kirstin E. (Tom) Harris of Jamestown, Kimberly E. (Brent) Weiss of Broomfield, CO and Clark A. (Shannon) Anderson of San Diego, CA; and two great grandchildren, Judson and Oscar Harris. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, G. Aaron "Andy" Anderson whom she married January 9, 1941 and who died July 10, 2000; a sister, Eloise Tordoff; and infant twins. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Christ Chapel of Christ First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Natalie Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Christ First United Methodist Church, 1663 Lakeview Ave. Jamestown, NY 14701.
