Obituary of Robert G. Josephson

Robert G. Josephson, 84, of 390 Delaware Ave., died at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born May 5, 1929 in Jamestown, the son of the late Gust and Amanda Anderson Josephson. Bob was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He began his work career with Davis Randolph and later worked for the former Art Metal Corp. Bob retired as a research technician in 1993 after 30 years with MRC-SKF where he also held several patents. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and a Deacon, and was a past member of the Vikings Lodge. Bob always enjoyed tinkering in his workshop; his entire family knew that he could fix anything. He was also an avid bowler in earlier years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Barbara Woelfel, whom he married February 28, 1953; three children: Peggy Ambrose of Jamestown, Patty Watts of Arden, NC and David (Karin) Josephson of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Alexander (Amber) Ambrose of Erie, PA, Sarah Ambrose of Fountain Valley, CA, William L. Watts of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert J. Watts of Seattle, WA, and Rebecca and Graham Josephson of Jamestown; and a great-granddaughter, Kira Ambrose of Erie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Aldine Francisco, and an infant son. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Wendy M. Heinz will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received in Fellowship Hall of the church following the service Saturday.
