Obituary of Jane L. Palmer

Jane L. Palmer, 91, of Tanglewood Manor, formerly of Silver Creek and Bemus Point, died Monday, July 8, 2013 in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of Robert H. Palmer, whom she married June 13, 1942 and who died June 29, 1977. Jane was born October 10, 1921 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Andrew and Florence Woodhead Leber, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1939. She had been employed for a number of years in the office of Lake Shore Nursing Home in Irving, NY during the time that her husband served as administrator. Jane was a communicant of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Bishop Overs Guild, and also belonged to The Daughters of St. George. Jane will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She could always be counted on for being there for anyone that needed help. She was so loved by all, with her wonderful smile and crystal blue eyes. She will be sadly missed. Surviving are a daughter, Susan (Bruce) Harris of Ashville, NY and a son, Timothy R. (Linda) Palmer of Overland Park, KS; eight grandchildren: Dawn (Dave) Hammond of Bemus Point, Carmen (Rae) Farrugello of Falconer, Scott (Amber) Palmer of Curlew, WA, Mark (Dawn) Palmer of Surprise, AZ, Rebecca (Ralph Mele) Palmer of Melbourne, FL, Heather (Kyle) Anderson of Dickenson, ND, Andrew Palmer of Indian River Beach, FL, and Shawn (Kimberly) Harris of Brewster, MA; and ten great-grandchildren: Leanne Aten, Riley Farrugello, Christopher Palmer, Elizabeth Palmer, Audrey Mele, Dominic Mele, Emma Palmer, Amelia Palmer, Bailey Harris and Kayla Harris. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John "Jack" Leber in 1990. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20th in the Chapel of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Liz Simmons will officiate. Inurnment will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown, NY 14701; or to a charity of one's choice.
