Obituary of Herbert W. Faulk

Herbert W. Faulk, 94, of 293 Sampson Street, died peacefully at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing with his family at his side after a brief illness. A native of Alvsjo, Sweden, he was born March 10, 1919, a son of Klas Henry and Anna Marie Johansson Falk. Herb came to the US at age four. He was a 1937 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving as a sergeant for the military police. Herb was responsible for transporting German prisoners of war by train to various camps throughout this country. He was employed by Art Metal, Inc for 33 years as a locksmith. He also had worked for Jamestown Sterling, Volkswagen of Warren and Jamestown Metal Products. He was a longtime member of First Covenant Church where he had served as an usher. His other church involvement included member of Senior Fellowship where he served on the board for several years, and Camp Mission Meadows counselor. In earlier years he was active in sports and coached the church basketball team which won the city league championship. Known as Mr. Fixit, he enjoyed tinkering with cars, clocks and watches. He spent time working on model trains and helping his wife with miniatures. He will be sadly missed by his family. Surviving are his wife of 70 years Janette Grundstrom Faulk, whom he married July 15, 1943; two daughters Betty Lou Pillittieri of Lakewood and Eileen (Bob) Glass of Apopka, FL; four grandchildren Laura (Mike) DePue of Hamburg, NY, David (Amy) Pillittieri of Jamestown, and Lynn (Randy) Lamb and Jayne Swisher both of Florida; five great grandchildren Patrick Casey, Jacqulyn and Thomas Swisher and Liam and Vanessa Pillittieri; a brother Dr. Bud Faulk of Wyoming, MI and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Corrine Fish, Gunnar Faulk and Leonard Faulk, Sr. A committal service will be held in Lake View Cemetery at the convenience of the family. David B. Larson, retired Director of Visitation of First Covenant Church will officiate. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church 520 Spring Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
