Obituary of Gerald W. Ingerson

Gerald W. "Ingy" Ingerson Sr., 74, of 210 Crossman Street, passed away Wednesday July 31, 2013 in WCA Hospital surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with COPD. He was born April 21, 1939 in Salamanca, NY the son of the late Glenn Ingerson and Joyce Teemly Wilt. Gerald was a veteran of the US Air force and in 1996, retired from the Jamestown Fire Department after serving for 32 years. He also had worked at Dahlstrom Mfg Co. He was a member of the Morton Club, Eagles, and War Vets. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, riding his motorcycle, and telling stories. Gerald loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching them participating in sports. He also loved his beloved dog, Boots. Gerald's final unselfish gift was as an organ donor to someone in need. Surviving are three daughters, Pamela Ingerson of Celoron; Patricia Ingerson of Houston, TX; Lisa (Jason) Bellardo of Jamestown; a son, Gerald W. (Jennifer) Ingerson Jr. of Jamestown; eight grandchildren, Bradley Patton Jr., of Ohio; Katie Ingerson, Karie Ingerson, Brianna Nicole Alberta Ingerson, all of Jamestown; Jo-el Farmer of Montana; Tyler Farmer of Houston; Jonathan Bellardo, and Jayden Bellardo, both of Jamestown; a great grandson, Liam Farmer of Montana; two brothers, Everett Ingerson of Califonia; and Glenn Ingerson of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Brown Ingerson whom he married May 5, 1962 and who died December 26, 2002; two brothers, Ronald and Gordon Ingerson; and a sister, Margaret Rosie. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. H. Wayne Eppehimer, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society 2825 Strunk Road Jamestown, NY 14701; or to a charity of choice.
