Obituary of John Frazier Emerson

John Frazier Emerson, 84, of Scandia Dr. Bemus Point, NY, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Saturday (August 31, 2013) in his home. A lifelong area resident he was born December 5, 1928 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Clay Fitts and Corinne Frazier Emerson. John was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA in 1952 with a degree in Physics. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving during the Korean War, receiving an honorable medical discharge. Before his retirement he was employed as an Industrial Electrician for the former Art Metal Inc. and was involved in commercial real estate in the Jamestown area. In earlier years he had worked for the Westinghouse Corporation in Baltimore, MD. He was a former lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Jamestown and was a member of the Fenton Historical Society. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Joan Ford Emerson whom he married July 8, 1961, two sons; Clay F. (Rita) Emerson of Orlando, FL, William F. (Melissa) Emerson of Jamestown, two grandchildren; Kyle John Emerson, a student at Allegheny College, Kelly Alice Emerson of Jamestown, a sister Marjorie Emerson Foster of Naples, FL and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, September, 6, 2013, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Deacon Cathy Smith, chaplain of Hospice Chautauqua County will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 12:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
