Obituary of Antonina Smith

Antonina "Ann" Smith, 78, of 233 Broadhead Avenue, died October 2, 2013, in her home. She was born July 28, 1935, in Termini Imerese, Italy, a daughter of the late Gaetano and Josephine Bonafede Contiguglia. Coming to the United States in 1953, she was employed by Rockman's Super Duper in the meat department and later by Jamestown Plywood. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church where she was a long time volunteer and baker for various events. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and flower gardening. She will be remembered as a woman with a keen sense of fashion who enjoyed traveling and loved time spent with family and friends. Surviving are two children Thomas Smith of Largo, FL and Julie (Donald) Lauer of Baldwinsville, NY; three grandchildren Staff Sgt. Nicholas (Robin Moss) Lauer of Clinton, UT, Adam Lauer of Baldwinsville, NY and Garrett Smith of Largo, FL and all of Ann's caregivers from Angel Homecare. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd C. Smith, whom she married November 26, 1955 and who died March 11, 1999. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Darrell G. Duffy will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received at Lind's from 6-8 p.m. Sunday where The Rosary will be recited at 5:15 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be led at 7:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W.
