Obituary of Francis R. Lofecheck

Francis R. "Dick" Lofecheck, 77, of Barker Street Jamestown, passed away peacefully Friday October 11, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 18, 1935 in Greensburg, PA the son of the late John and Bertha Cole Lofecheck. Francis was a US Army Veteran, serving in Korea. He was awarded the United Nations Service Medal; ROK Presidential Unit Citation; National Defense Service Medal; and the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a sales representative at Davis Roofing and Gustafson Roofing. He was a member of the VFW; Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion; the War Vets; and a past member of the Moose Lodge. Francis enjoyed golfing, playing Bingo, and animals, especially his cats Dusty, Sassy, and Tiggy. Surviving are his companion of 27 years, Sue Logue; two daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Lawson of South Salem, NY; Kellie (Ken) Johnson of Ellery Center; a son, Kenneth Lofecheck of Jamestown; three grandchildren, Kyla Johnson, Krista Johnson, and Michael Lofecheck; Sue's daughters, Cheryl Paulson and Michelle Frost both of Jamestown; Sue's grandchildren, Amanda Gibson, Cory Warner, Chad Warner, and Cheyenne Logue; two sisters, Dolores Hallberg of New Port News, VA; Barbara Conner of Falconer; a brother in law, Sam Agate of Jamestown; and a sister in law, Toni Love of Cleveland, OH. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Michael Lofecheck and Bradley John Lofecheck; a grandchild Clair Lofecheck; and a brother, John Lofecheck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
