Obituary of Florence H. Derby

Florence H. Kotsi Derby, 83, of Tanglewood Manor, formerly of 223 East Mosher St., Falconer, NY and 11 Partridge St. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013, in W.C.A. Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was born January 13, 1930 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Llambi S. and Mary H. Thimi Kotsi. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School. Before her retirement, she was employed as a Secretary as well as a part-time telephone operator for the former Art Metal, Inc. where she worked for 25 years. She also worked for Hopes Architectural Products for 13 years and was a part-time telephone operator at Bush Industries for several years. Florence attended the Zion Covenant Church and was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary, the Herman Kent Post #777 American Legion Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was an avid card player and loved entertaining. Her greatest hobby was cooking and having friends and family in for a delicious meal. Surviving are two brothers; Richard W. (Darlene) Kotsi of Jamestown, John L. (Odette) Kotsi of Estro, FL, two sisters; Barbara Jean Kotsi of Syracuse, NY, Mary Jane (Scott) Shaw of Saratoga Springs, NY as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Theron "Ted" Derby who died February 10, 1993, her father who died November 30, 1960 and her mother who died June 25, 1970. The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm. Tuesday, October 29, 2013, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Miller, pastor of the Zion Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
