Obituary of Marvin P. Lindquist

Marvin P. Lindquist, 94, of 21 Devon Street West Ellicott, passed away Thursday November 14, 2013 in his home. He was born April 29, 1919 in Jamestown the son of the late John A. and Amanda Coberg Lindquist. Marvin was a 1937 graduate of Jamestown High School and a US Army veteran serving in the Panama Canal Zone during WWII. Prior to retirement, he worked as a tool and die maker at AVM Corp for over 40 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club; the War Vets Rec; and a life member of the VFW and Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion where he served as Commander from 1980 to 1981. Marvin enjoyed gardening and repairing his tractors. His favorite times were those spent with his grandchildren as grandpa and best friend. Surviving are two sons, Bruce (Sandy) Lindquist of Kennedy, NY; Robert A. (Barbara) Lindquist of Canandaigua, NY; five grandchildren, Kirsten, Erika, Emily, Douglas, and Craig; seven great grandchildren, Ella, William, Nicholas, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Zachary, and Cole. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Flavia Peterson Lindquist whom he married August 18, 1945 and who died March 29, 1994; a brother, Lawrence Lindquist; a half sister, Ella Johnson Posner; and a half brother, Leonard Johnson. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert J. Kasting, pastor of Tree of Life Parish, Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
