Obituary of Margaret A. Rooney

Margaret A. "Marg" Rooney, 73, of 3073 Open Meadows Rd. Ashville, NY passed away at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 29, 1940 in the Town of North Harmony a daughter of the late Albert and Erma Odell Fardink. Marg was a 1956 graduate of Southwestern Central High School and attended the Open Meadows United Methodist Church. Before her retirement in 2004, she was employed as a nurse's aide at the former Manor Oak Skilled Nursing Facility in Jamestown for 30 years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved watching birds from her country home. Surviving are her husband William L. Rooney whom she married November 23, 1974, two daughters, Donna (David) Shagla of Sugar Grove, PA, Marjorie (Anthony) Siliano of Ashville, NY, a son Charles Dean, Jr. of Jamestown, two step-children, William Rooney, Debbie Ruby both of Jamestown, six grandchildren, David Shagla, Julie Destro both of Sugar Grove, John Siliano, Tiffany Barrus both of Jamestown, Brandon Siliano, Stepahnie Siliano-Butts both of Ashville. 15 great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, Dakota, Brantley, Kyle Churchill, Missy Barretero, two brothers, Charles Fardink of Ashville, Garrett Fardink of Jamestown and two sisters, Amy Hayes of Randolph, NY, Alberta Allenson of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Dean and a great granddaughter Kira Barrus. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Leslie, chaplain of Hospice Chautauqua County will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville, NY. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
