Obituary of Celeste W. Anderson

Celeste W. Anderson, 87, of Jamestown, New York, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Gerry N.Y. She was born August 6, 1926 in Lexington, South Carolina, the daughter of Rev. W.C. Wallace and Ella Ford Wallace. Celeste graduated from Lakeview South Carolina high school in 1943. She trained at the McCleod Infirmary School of Nursing at Florence, South Carolina from 1943-1946, which was one of the first classes of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She was a registered nurse for 25 years, employed by Veteran's Hospital of Columbia, South Carolina; General Hospital of Jamestown New York; Ohio State University of Columbus, Ohio; King Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown New York; Warren State Hospital, Warren, Pa. and Presbyterian Home and Lutheran Home on the Ecumenical Campus, Jamestown, New York. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jamestown. Surviving are three sons, Edwin Anderson (Sheila), and Quinn Anderson (Joanne), both of Jamestown and Kyle Anderson (Michelle) of Lakewood; daughter, Terry Lou Anderson (Cliff) of Jamestown; seven grandchildren; Andrew Mudra (Melissa) of Providence, Rhode Island, Karilyn Lucas (Chad), Buffalo, New York Tim Anderson (Jessa), LeRoy, New York, Jill Martin (Jeff), Fort Mill, South Carolina, Jessy Anderson (Connie) Jamestown, New York Sheena Anderson (David), Jamestown, New York and Morgan Anderson, Ashville New York; Seven great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Johnson of Jamestown and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Anderson, whom she married October 22, 1953 in Jamestown's Pilgrim Memorial Church and who died July 6th, 2010; two sisters, Edna Fort and Mary Wingard; four brothers, Gaitley, Dall, William and Joseph; and her daughter, Lorinda Mudra. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Childs, pastor of the First Baptist Church and Rev. John L. Kuhlmann, a friend from Tanglewood Manor will officiate. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Ellington, New York. Memorials may be made to Jamestown First Baptist Church, the Union Rescue Mission, WCA Hospital Memorial Fund, the Salvation Army or to the American Red Cross.
