Obituary of Karen D. Lange

Karen D. Lange, 70, of 3218 Chautauqua Ave. Ashville, NY, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born January 20, 1943 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Leonard and Gertrude Hellman Dahlberg. Karen was a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned her bachelor's of science degree in education from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Before her retirement in 2007, she was employed by the Jamestown Public School System as an elementary school teacher at Fletcher School. In earlier years she had also taught school in Virginia for several years. She will be remembered as one who loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed fishing, boating, sailing and laying on the beach in Florida. She also loved to travel and go deep sea fishing. Surviving are her husband James F. Lange whom she married June 28, 1980, a daughter, Cheryl M. Weller of Jamestown, three sons, Andrew P. (Josie) Monfort, Jay L. Monfort both of Jamestown, Patrick A. Monfort of Buffalo, NY, two step children Stephen Lange of Sugar Grove, PA, Jacquelyn Sheeley of Smethport, PA, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a nephew Leonard Dahlberg of Lakewood, CO. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Paul Dahlberg who died in 2005. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701.
