Obituary of Betty Olson Johnson

Betty Olson Johnson, 85, of 120 Aldren Avenue, formerly of 3340 Matson Road, died Sunday December 29, 2013, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Jamestown, she was born March 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Elizabeth Johnson Olson. She was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a member of its 100 Member Club. She later graduated from WCA Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed by MRC-TRW as an occupational nurse for 35 years. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and its Hope Circle, WCA Hospital Alumni Association and the Elks Lodge. She enjoyed traveling the United States and going on cruises. She was a volunteer with her husband John at many American Red Cross events. Surviving are twin daughters Melanie (Bruce) Slocum of Grapevine, TX and Michele (John) Edmonds of Littleton, CO; step daughter Beth Johnson of Jamestown; step son Daniel (Diana) Johnson of Mechanicsville, VA; two grandchildren Jessica Edmonds of Williston, ND and Robert Edmonds of Littleton, CO; two step grandchildren Julie Cullifer of Williamsburg, VA and Jeff Johnson of Arlington, VA; and three step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Wallace R. Olson, whom she married May of 1950 and who died in 1976 and her second husband John E. Johnson, whom she married April 1985 and who died in 2010. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
