Obituary of Yale A. Kohlbacher

Yale A. Kohlbacher, of Lakewood, NY died Wednesday January 1, 2014 in WCA Hospital. He was born May 1, 1919 in Jamestown the son of the late George M. and Ethel Erickson Kohlbacher. Yale was a 1938 graduate of Jamestown High School. He was drafted into the Army in the Spring of 1941. He attained the rank of Sergeant and served in North Africa and Italy. He was one of the first to return home after the war and gained employment with the former Jamestown Telephone Company as a cable splicer, retiring in 1981 as the Cable Department Supervisor. As a youth with his father, he saw Babe Ruth play in Yankee Stadium and became a life-long Yankee fan acquiring the nick-name of "Casey". He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and swimming. He especially enjoyed spending the summers at his home on Chautauqua Lake. Yale was a member of the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion and a past member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the Lakewood Kiwanis Club serving as its treasurer. Surviving are his wife, Betty I. Kohlbacher; two sons, David (Diane) Kohlbacher of Lakewood; Mark Kohlbacher of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Kristi Ternullo and Kyle Kohlbacher, both of Pittsburgh; Keith (Shauna) Kohlbacher of Jamestown; Kara Kohlbacher of Silver Creek; seven great grandchildren, Cole, Gavin, and Leah Ternullo, all of Pittsburgh; Alexandria and Alyssa Cornell, both of Silver Creek; Kaia and Annika Kohlbacher, both of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George A. Kohlbacher. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
