Obituary of Theodore R. Langworthy

Theodore R. Langworthy, 91, of 150 Woodworth Ave. W.E. formerly of Mitchell Rd., Jamestown, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014, in the UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. A lifelong area resident, he was born September 10, 1922 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Frank and Alice Nelson Langworthy. Mr. Langworthy was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Before his retirement in 1985, he was employed as a tester for the former Blackstone Corporation where he worked for 39 years. Following retirement he worked with his son at the Bullfrog Hotel for many years. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at St. John's Catholic Church and was a former member of the Viking Lodge and the Jamestown Moose Lodge. He will be remembered as an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid bowler. He was very proud of his three sons and their families, and took great pride in is grandchildren's accomplishments. Surviving are his three sons; Nick (Paula) Langworthy of Greenhurst, NY, Teddy (Denise) Langworthy, Thomas (Lynn) Langworthy both of West Ellicott, nine grandchildren; Teddy (Thai-an) Langworthy of New York City, Dennis Langworthy of Greenhurst, Nicholas (Erin) Langworthy of Amherst, NY, Jenny Langworthy, Thomas (Amy) Langworthy, Jr., Lindsay (Paul) Pappalardo, Matthew Langworthy all of Jamestown, Allison Langworthy of Lakewood, NY, Patrick Langworthy, a student at Fredonia State College, three great grandchildren; Evelyn, Finn and Noah Langworthy, a sister Norma Pangborn of West Ellicott and his lifelong best friend Busty Guiffrida of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Mary Colosanti Langworthy whom he married June 14, 1947, by the Rev. Austin Bellario, and who died August 27, 2005, a brother Curtis Langworthy and a sister Lorraine Hanson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Holy Apostles Parish at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.
