Obituary of Don Alan Limberg

Don Alan Limberg, 72, of 4362 W. Lake Rd., Mayville, died unexpectedly at 8:25 a.m. Friday (January 24, 2014) in his home. He was born June 28, 1941 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Clare Edson and Marian Ayers Limberg. Don attended Park School in Buffalo from 1947 to 1957. He worked as a CIT during summers at Camps Pinecrest and Mazinaw in Canada, where he was active in canoeing. Don graduated in 1960 from Chautauqua Central School and then served in the US Naval Reserves from 1961 until 1964. He served his tool & die apprenticeship and was employed by Rane Tool Co. in Jamestown from 1964 to 1968, by Arro Tool & Die from 1968 to 1969, and then worked for the Town of North Harmony Highway Dept. from 1969 until 1971. Don owned and operated Chautauqua Sand & Gravel in Mayville from 1971 to 1988 before working as a school bus driver and mechanic for Panama Central School from 1991 to 1999. Don retired as head bus mechanic and school bus driver from Sherman Central School where he was employed from 1999 to 2006. He was a member of Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church, belonged to Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, the Vikings and the Moose, and was an active member and supporter of the NRA. Don's many interests included antique guns, automobiles and heavy construction equipment, and especially antique tractors. He was also very interested in U.S. and world history, particularly the Civil War. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wendy Ward Limberg; a daughter, Lori (Douglas) Keller and a son, Mark Alan Limberg, both of Cleveland; three grandsons, Corey Keller, Ryan Keller and Brandon Keller and a granddaughter, Sara Keller, all of Cleveland; and a sister, Marcia L. Limberg of Mayville. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Hurlbut Memorial Community United Methodist Church at Chautauqua. The Rev. Paul Womack will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery. The family will receive friends in fellowship hall of the church following the service Monday.
