Obituary of Norma E. Catanese

Norma E. Catanese, 86, formerly of 5454 Route 474, Ashville, NY, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, February 2, 2014, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born October 4, 1927 in Blockville, NY a daughter of the late John and Edith Simmes Lord. She was a member of the Blockville United Methodist Church, the Harmony Senior Citizens and the Lakewood Rod & Gun ClubAuxiliary. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to spend time reading, crocheting and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Surviving are a daughter; Linda L. (Jon) Nobbs of Blockville, NY, two sons, Samuel W. (Carmella) Catanese of Falconer, NY, Patrick J. (Kristy) Catanese of Panama, NY, seven grandchildren, Tiffany (John) Goldberg of Panama, Briana Catanese of Ashville, Dacota "DJ" Catanese of Panama, Hillary (Randy) Elleman of Bemus Point, Lindsay (Phil) Nobbs Lombardo, Kandi (Nelson) Torres of Jamestown, Tate Catanese of Panama, five step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, Garrett and Dalton Goldberg, Samantha and Grayson Elleman, Camden, Maddox, and Adriana Lombardo, Daeton Cline, Kiana Torres, nine step-great grandchildren, three brothers, Charles Lord, Melvin Lord both of Ashville, Richard Lord of Spring Creek, PA and a sister, Shirley Whitton of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel L. Catanese whom she married February 23, 1946 and who died November 21, 2003, a brother Robert Lord and two sisters, Doris Lutz and Joyce Wells. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Taylor, pastor of the Panama United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Blockville Union Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
