Obituary of David C. Engberg

David C. Engberg, 70, of Memory Garden, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014. He was the husband of the former Susan Everett whom he married August 3, 1974. David was born in Jamestown December 26, 1943, the son of the late Edward and Rose Carpenter Engberg. A 1962 graduate of Jamestown High School, he then served in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Following military service, David graduated from Jamestown Community College in 1968 and the University of Buffalo in1970. He then worked as an electronic engineer for the Department of Defense at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany for 30 years, retiring in 1999. David was a life member of the International Electrical Electronic Engineers, the American Legion Post #1 in Kaiserslautern, Germany and the Bournes Beach Association. He had belonged to the former Buffalo Street United Methodist Church. Over the years, he had traveled extensively throughout Europe, both for work and for pleasure. David's favorite times were winter skiing in the Swiss Alps and summers at Bournes Beach on Lake Erie. In addition to his wife Susan, surviving are three sisters: Bonnie Engberg of Jamestown, Carolyn (Morrie) Kintner of Warren, PA, and Anita (Steve) Seaberg of Elmira, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. David's brother-in-law, Steve Seaberg will officiate. Friends will be received for two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute Alliance Foundation, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263; to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Ave, Suite 1802, New York, New York 10001; or to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221. The family would like to thank everyone at Memory Garden for all the love, care and concern given to David throughout the years.
