Obituary of Helen M. Lingenfelter

Helen M. Lingenfelter, 91, of 232 Huxley Street, died Thursday February 20, 2014, in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born March 28, 1922, a daughter of the late Victor and Josephina Kihlstrom Mickelson. Prior to her retirement in 1984, she was employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a cafeteria worker for 16 years. In earlier years she worked for Davis Drug Store and Murphy's Department Store. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and flower gardening. Surviving are four children James R. Lingenfelter of Florida, Lynda J. Griffin of Kentucky, Karen (Steve) Peterson of West Ellicott, and Holly Thompson of Jamestown; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren and her personal caregiver and friend Jodey Johnson of Sinclairville. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband H. Grant Lingenfelter, Sr., whom she married August 16, 1940 and who died February 9, 1999; a son Howard Lingenfelter, Jr.; a brother John V. Mickelson and two infant sisters. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Samuel Shreffler will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
