Obituary of Douglas L. Peterson

Douglas L. Peterson, 41, of 156 Park St., died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation. He was born May 19, 1972 in Jamestown, a son of Stephen and Shirley Long Peterson. Doug was a 1990 graduate of Jamestown High School, received Associate's Degrees in Chemistry in 1992 and Humanities in 1994 from Jamestown Community College, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy Cum Laude from SUNY Fredonia in 1997. He had also attended SUNY Geneseo. Doug had been employed by the Electronics Boutique as administrative manager in Lakewood and as Store Manager in Warren. He then served as Assistant Manager of the Country Fair in Harborcreek, PA and most recently as a Teaching Assistant at the BOCES Hewes Education Center in Ashville. A member of the Ivory Baptist Church, Doug also attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. He belonged to the Jamestown Moose Lodge #1681. Surviving are his parents of Jamestown; two brothers, David Brent (Cheri) Peterson of Jamestown and Daniel Stephen Peterson of Columbus, OH; an aunt, Nancy (Ronald) Anderson of Akeley, PA and two uncles, Stanley (Ann) Long of Altmar, NY and Bruce (Patricia) Long of West Ellicott; as well as cousins, Jason (Melissa) Anderson and their son., Owen, and Adam, Andrew and Michael Long. He was preceded in death in 1967 by a sister, Bethany Peterson; maternal grandparents, Stanley and Signa Long; and paternal grandparents, Leonard and Ruth Peterson. A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
