Obituary of Wallace G. Saff

Wallace G. "Wally" Saff, 89, of 22 Hillcrest Avenue, Jamestown, died Tuesday April 1, 2014, in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, he was born March 25, 1925, the son of the late Gunnard and Svea Larson Saff. Following graduation from Jamestown High School in 1943 he served in the US Army Air Corps from 1944-46 as navigator on a B24 Bomber during WWII. Prior to his retirement in 1974, he was employed by Jesse C. Stewart, Pittsburgh as a feed broker for 29 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher and elder. His other memberships include Vikings, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion. He was an avid golfer and bowler for many years and also enjoyed boating on Chautauqua Lake. Surviving are his wife Arlene Sodergren Saff, whom he married April 2, 1945; three children Jeffrey Saff of Santa Fe, NM, Susan (Robert) Leatherman of Olathe, KS and Gary (Callie) Saff of Bradenton, FL and two grandsons Eric and Kevin Saff of Bradenton. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Evie Stevens. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
